The 24th World Scout Jamboree is being organised jointly between Mexico, America and Canada between 22nd July and 2nd August 2019. Due to the size of the Jamboree, it is being held at Summit Bechtel Reserve, West Virginia, USA.
Approximately 50,000 to 80,000 Scouts from all over the World will be invited to the event. The UK allocation will hopefully be between 3,000 and 4,000. This will be made up by a number of Units each containing 36 young people and 4 leaders. UK County places will be allocated as a percentage based on the 2017 census numbers of young people within the required age range. The minimum allocation for Cleveland Scouts is likely to be nine young people and one leader but there is a possibility that this number may be increased.
To qualify as a Unit Member your birthday must be between 22nd July 2001 to 21st July 2005. You will only get one opportunity to attend a World Jamboree as a participant. The cost of the Jamboree has not yet been quoted and interested parties will be informed as soon as this figure is announced. This cost will include all Jamboree fees, travel, uniform etc. but will not include any local training camps/activities that may be arranged prior to, or after, the Jamboree. The fee in the past has been between £3,000-3,500.
If you are interested you will need to complete an Application of Interest Form and return this to either Lotti, Karen or our ACC(International) Doug Corbin. A full application form will be sent to all interested members once more details have been released.
In the event of more scouts/explorers applying for the available places, there will be a selection process carried out as soon as possible after Sunday 2nd April 2017. As the Jamboree is taking place in just over two years training and fundraising activities will be starting in September 2017.
